Set apart from the open sea and the sometimes rough conditions of the northern coast, La Petite Mer de Grand-Fort-Philippe is a unique spot, discreet and sought after by local riders. This vast lagoon area, protected by dikes and sandbanks, offers a striking contrast to the nearby beaches: here, the water is calmer, the setting more intimate, and the navigation significantly smoother. When conditions are right, the water surface becomes a true flat playground, ideal for learning, freestyle, and technical sessions sheltered from the chop.

Navigation takes place in a semi-closed area, influenced by the tide but protected from direct swell. The spot mainly works at rising tide and around high tide, when the depth becomes sufficient. The dominant wind blows from the west to southwest, arriving side to slightly side-onshore on the water surface. The water surface is flat to slightly choppy, with a regular sandy bottom that provides reassurance during falls. The space is more restricted than at sea, which requires clean and respectful navigation.
