Bréhec

The Vieux Bréhec beach in Bréhec, Brittany, is a large stretch of fine sand facing a small traditional fishing port. There is a water sports center offering kayaking, paddleboarding, and sailing, with a family-friendly and calm atmosphere favored by locals and vacationers.

It is a well-known kitesurfing spot in Côtes-d'Armor, where Breton riders meet even in winter. The beach extends for several kilometers at low tide, ideal for navigation, with a nice dyke for walking around the hamlet.

Close to Plouha and Plouézec, it offers an authentic setting with bars and restaurants at the entrance, perfect for a kite session followed by a relaxing break.

Standort

Detaillierte Informationen

The Vieux Bréhec beach is oriented west-southwest, making it ideal for side-on to side-shore winds coming from the W or NW, the most frequent in Brittany. At low tide, the water extends widely over fine sand, offering a large navigation area flat to light chop, perfect for freestyle or progression. The launch is directly from the wide beach, with space to take off without disturbing bathers.

At high tide, the water rises quickly and brings the navigation area closer to the shore, reducing ground space but creating a more compact and sheltered water area. Be careful near the port where pleasure boats leave, it's better to navigate offshore from the main beach. Winter sessions are common here thanks to the regular wind from the bay of Saint-Brieuc, with few obstacles in open sea.

The spot works well from mid-tide to have enough water without losing too much beach. Local riders position the kite by the dyke for takeoff when the wind is offshore, but this is rare given the orientation. Overall, it is accessible with a good space of 2 km at low tide.
