Seahorse Bay
Egypt · Mer-Rouge
Seahorse Bay lagoon, located between Hurghada and El Gouna on the Egyptian Red Sea coast, is a flatwater spot particularly appreciated by kitesurfers in search of ideal conditions. It is a peaceful and well-developed place, away from the hustle and bustle of other spots in Hurghada, offering an authentic experience accessible to all levels.
The site is distinguished by its vast shallow lagoon with crystal-clear waters and its impeccable sandy bottom. The atmosphere is relaxed, with a well-established kite school (Ibi & Friends Kite Club) and facilities designed for the comfort of riders. Unlike the crowded spots in southern Hurghada, Seahorse Bay retains a tranquil character while offering exceptional wind conditions.

Seahorse Bay benefits from a very regular wind regime with wind present about 70% of the year. The wind generally blows in a consistent and stable manner throughout the day, making it a reliable spot for regular practice.
The lagoon offers an extremely flat water surface at low tide, particularly appreciated by advanced riders seeking optimal freestyle conditions. At high tide, the water remains calm and accessible. An area called “pool” connects the lagoon to the deeper waters of the ocean, allowing experienced kitesurfers to navigate independently of the tide and access more dynamic areas.
Launching takes place on a very accessible sandy beach, with a take-off and landing area just 100 to 150 meters from the shore. The space is generous and well-organized, with separate instruction zones for beginners and advanced riders. The spot can accommodate up to 25 people without feeling overcrowded, which is rare in Egypt.
