Cabo de la Vela

Lost in the north of the country, in the heart of the Guajira desert, Cabo de la Vela is a mythical destination for kitesurfers in search of adventure. This small wayuu village, located at the end of a dusty track, exudes a timeless atmosphere: dirt roads, wooden houses, spectacular sunsets over the Caribbean Sea. Kitesurfing here is a raw, almost spiritual experience. Away from the crowds and modern comforts, people come here to reconnect with the essence of riding: wind, turquoise water, and endless sand. The main spot, called Kite Point, is located at the southern tip of the village. It is a vast bay of shallow water where the wind blows relentlessly. Around it, other satellite spots (Pilon de Azúcar, Bahia Honda, Ojo de Agua) allow for varied pleasures, between flat lagoons and small waves. Cabo de la Vela is a place that leaves a mark. Once there, one understands why many riders stay longer than expected.
