Plage de Wimereux
France · Hauts-de-France (Pas-de-Calais)
Iconic seaside resort on the Opal Coast, Wimereux beach offers a rare compromise between accessibility, aesthetics, and interesting marine conditions. Nestled in a wide bay facing southwest, it benefits from a more sheltered environment than the neighboring rocky spots, while maintaining a true open sea dynamic. The setting is elegant and lively, with a seawall, Belle Époque villas, and an unobstructed view of the strait. Wimereux is appreciated for its more readable conditions, ideal for freeride and wave initiation when the swell is moderate.

Navigation takes place in open sea, in a bay partially protected by the surrounding caps. The spot mainly works with winds from west to southwest, arriving side to side-onshore. At low tide, the beach widens significantly, facilitating launches. At high tide, space is reduced but remains navigable. The water is generally choppy, with more organized waves than on northern beaches when the swell enters the bay.
