The Digue beach in Tarnos is the southernmost beach in the Landes, characterized by the presence of a dam that marks the border with the Basque Country. Digue beach offers generally smooth and regular conditions for kitesurfing. The dominant wind blows from the east, creating offshore to side-shore conditions depending on seasonal variations. Under normal conditions, the water surface is flat to slightly choppy, ideal for progression and mastering technique.
Entry to the water is directly from the sandy beach, with no major obstacles. The official launch zone in summer is well defined and allows for safe practice. The spot works well at low and high tide, with a gradual depth that facilitates entry and exit. Be cautious of the shorebreak which can be pronounced during strong swells, and the current which may be present depending on weather conditions.
