Ouistreham
The Orne estuary in Ouistreham, Normandy, is a popular spot between Merville-Franceville and Riva-Bella beach. Located at the mouth of the river, it offers a vast sandy beach without rocks or constructions, ideal for kitesurfing.
The spot benefits from a powerful venturi effect when the wind comes from the northeast, enhanced by the thermal in summer. It is a perfect place for both beginners and advanced riders, with schools on site like Kite-R in Merville-Franceville.
The atmosphere is friendly, with a bar by the water and varied sessions depending on the tides.

معلومات مفصلة
The spot works well with winds from southwest to northwest, in onshore or side-on. From the southwest, a swell forms and it's better to move towards Ouistreham to navigate. The northeast creates a venturi effect in the estuary, with wind often 10-15 knots stronger than expected, perfect for freeride or freestyle.
Launching is easy on the vast beach, with a large take-off area. The navigation zone extends along Merville-Franceville beach, avoiding the estuary side of Ouistreham. At high tide, opt for kitefoil with depth. At low tide, switch to twin-tip board or surf in the waves that form, and at low tide, it's flat ideal for wakestyle and tricks like kite loops.
In summer, the northeast thermal ensures calm side-on starboard sessions. The beach is so large that there is always space, even when crowded.
