Plage du Dossen
France · Bretagne
The beach of Dossen, located in Santec in northern Finistère, is a long stretch of white sand over 5 km that attracts water sports enthusiasts. It is a must-visit spot for kitesurfing, windsurfing, and surfing, with a friendly atmosphere favored by locals and schools of sliding.
Exposed to west winds and swells, it offers varied conditions depending on the tides, and you can even reach the island of Sieck at low tide for a walk. In season, areas are marked to separate sports activities from supervised swimming.
Close to Roscoff and Saint-Pol-de-Léon, it is an accessible place with parking and amenities like a bar and restaurant on site.

The beach of Dossen is oriented west-northwest, making it ideal for west and northwest winds in side-on or side-shore conditions perfect for kitesurfing. The launch is directly on the fine sand, easy even for intermediates, but avoid the swimming area in summer and land sailing routes.
The navigation area extends for several kilometers along the beach, with optimal take-off in the center or towards the island of Sieck where the wind is more consistent, away from disturbances near the dune. At high tide, the water surface is wider and you can freeride without worry, while at low tide, the space shrinks and you need to be careful not to run aground on the sand.
In summer, from June 15 to September 15, kitesurfing is limited to a small sheltered area near the island of Sieck, making launches difficult in strong winds; off-season, the whole beach is open. Be cautious of the many surfers at the central peak and the surf schools that occupy the space.
