Doodles Beach
South Africa · Cap occidental
Doodles Beach, located in Cape Town, South Africa, is a popular kitesurfing beach situated in front of the Doodles restaurant and the Blauwberg hotel. It is a spot favored by riders for its accessibility and consistent conditions, particularly suitable for downwinders coming from Sunset Beach or Dolphin Beach.
The beach offers an interesting balance between waves and freestyle conditions. Less crowded than Dolphin Beach or Kite Beach during peak season, it remains a strategic stop for long sessions. The local infrastructure is well developed with restaurants and bars in close proximity.

Doodles Beach works best with a wind from the SE, S, and SW, arriving side-shore to side-on relative to the beach. The southeast wind, locally known as the Cape Doctor, is the dominant pattern and can become very powerful in the Southern Hemisphere summer. The beach stretches for several kilometers with a mixed water surface combining waves and flat sections. Waves are generally between 1 and 2 meters under normal conditions but can reach 3 to 4 meters during large systems. The flat sections between the waves allow for smooth transitions for downwinders. Launching is easy along the entire length of the beach. The spot works well at high tide as well as low tide, with a water surface generally choppy to wavy depending on conditions. Doodles is particularly favored as a landing point for downwinders coming from Sunset Beach, Dolphin Beach, or Kite Beach, as it offers a good transition before continuing towards Big Bay if desired.
