Kalamitsa is a flat and chop type spot, located on the southern coast of Skyros. The dominant wind, the Meltemi (N/NNE), is offshore on this coast, which means it pushes towards the sea. This can make navigation more technical, especially for beginners. The water surface is generally calm with some chop areas near the shore. The navigation zones are well defined, with easy access to the water from the beach. The launch area is located close to the beach, offering a clear view of the water. Local features include the presence of some rocks in the northern area, to be avoided, and a generally weak current that can be stronger near the channel.
