The beach of Palavas-les-Flots, located in Occitanie near Montpellier, is a popular spot for kiters due to its fine sand and exposure to the southwest wind. Close to Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone, it offers easy access from Montpellier airport and a lively atmosphere with the locals.
It is a typical place on the Mediterranean coast, with a wide beach and breakwaters that structure the area. Riders come here for the flat in tramontane or small waves from the sea breeze.

The spot mainly works with a southwest side-on or side-shore wind, perfect for launching on the medium-sized sandy beach. With northwest tramontane, it's offshore, which gives a flat water surface but requires vigilance as the wind pushes out to sea; a safety boat is recommended. With southeast sea breeze onshore, waves can reach medium size, larger than at Grande Motte, ideal for wave riders but be cautious of the jetty and breakwaters.
The navigation area extends in front of the beach, avoiding the numerous wavebreakers and the port wall on the right. Launching is easy on sand, but the take-off space is shared with bathers and windsurfers, especially in summer. Tides have little impact, coefficients remain low around 0.4-0.5m, so the spot always works the same. Prefer the central part for freeride, left for waves in SE.
In SW thermal in the afternoon, it's great for strapless or freestyle. Dense crowd on good days, stay upwind.
