Sangatte

Immediately east of Cap Blanc-Nez, the Sangatte beach marks a clear transition between the long sandy beaches of the Opal Coast and the iconic cliffs of the Strait of Pas-de-Calais. Exposed, powerful, and spectacular, it offers authentically maritime navigation, with England visible in clear weather. The spot is appreciated by local riders for its straightforward character and often intense sessions, but it requires a good reading of the conditions and a solid level to be exploited safely.

Ubicación

Información detallada

Navigation takes place in open sea, with a very marked influence from the tides and currents of the strait. The wind primarily comes from west to southwest, arriving side to side-onshore on the beach. The proximity of the cliffs of Cap Blanc-Nez can generate site effects and sometimes irregular wind near the shore. At low tide, the beach widens and facilitates launching, while at high tide the space is significantly reduced. The water is generally choppy to rough, with short and fast waves.
