Camocim (Trapiá Cove)

Lost between Tatajuba and Camocim, Praia do Farol do Trapiá is one of those spots that only locals really know. Nestled at the foot of a small lighthouse overlooking the coast, this wild cove is lined with golden dunes and ochre cliffs, offering a spectacular panorama of the Atlantic Ocean. The place is of raw beauty: no village, no pousadas, just nature, wind, and the sound of waves. Kitesurfers rarely come to stay, but rather for a stop during a downwind or a more engaged session. The wind here is stronger than in the Cangalhas lagoon, the swell more pronounced, and the feeling of total freedom. It’s a photogenic, powerful, and wild spot, perfect for riders who want to get off the beaten path and taste the Brazilian coast in its purest state.

Ubicación

Información detallada

The bay of Farol do Trapiá is a typical marine spot of Ceará. Side-onshore wind from east to southeast, strong and constant, between 20 and 28 knots. Choppy water with small waves, with flatter sections depending on the tide. Sandy bottom everywhere, safe, and wide beach for take-offs. At low tide, the sea recedes widely, leaving a large flat area in front of the dunes, ideal for easy starts or jumps on flat ground. At high tide, the swell strengthens and creates waves of 0.5 to 1.5 meters, spaced out, perfect for surfkiting. It’s a more engaged spot than Camocim, made for advanced riders who love sensations in open sea. The wind remains strong all day, and sunset sessions under the lighthouse light are sublime.

Riesgos y seguridad

  • The spot is isolated: no rescue, no school, no service on site.
  • You must be self-sufficient, experienced, and prepared.
  • The strong wind and sometimes marked swell make it a playground for intermediate to advanced riders.
  • The width of the beach makes take-offs easy, but the heat and lack of shade require good preparation (water, sunscreen, GPS if downwind).
